Motocycle accident stats?

So i am almost 18 and i want to get a motorcycle license. My parents don't want me to and they have some lagit concerns. They don't worry about me personally but about other motorists around me. with that said, how many motorcycle accidents involving other motorists is oporator error as opposed to other vehicles fault. What is the likely hood of getting in an accident, and the likely hood of it being fatal. Also what are some ways to stay safe while riding besides wearing a helmet. Is it worth it to take the safety risk and get the license. I have rode my friends bike around and it is soo much fun, i really want to get this license, so is it worth it?
